The Statistical Accounts of Scotland The two Statistical Accounts of Scotland, covering the 1790s and the 1830s, are probably the best contemporary reports of life in Scotland during the agricultural and industrial revolutions in Europe They were written for each of over 930 parishes in Scotland, usually by the Minister of the local Parish Church. From each Parish account you can learn about the area, life and times in which your ancestors lived. They are available online at the EDINA National Data Centre at the University of Edinburgh at a subscription cost of UK40 pounds (US$80), or there is a free browsing service . Or contact Scotlands Family if you wish a copy of a particular Parish entry.
